A 51-year-old man identified as a tout allegedly committed suicide on Monday morning when his desired candidate lost in a decisive electoral process.
According to Punch, the incident happened in Leshau Trading Centre in Nyandarua County, Kenya, as Governor Joshua Irungu lost in the general election.
Reports say David Mugambi Mathenge, who was a tout in Nyahururu Town, was found hanging from the ceiling of his house.
Mugambi reportedly left behind a suicide note stating that he decided to take his own life after Irungu, who was his preferred candidate, lost in the Laikipia governor’s race.
This came a few days after an electoral presiding officer committed suicide over the weekend, reports said.
